Cancer

NDRI began providing tumors for research in the late 1980's as a designated Center funded by the National Cancer Institute. Since that time, NDRI has continued to provide tissue for the discovery of new drug targets and biomarkers, the development of cancer cell lines and for DNA and RNA research. Over the years, NDRI has provided thousands of tumor samples to many of the country's leading scientists. Specimens with confirmed histology and diagnosis are available from surgery within one-hour post excision from a large variety of cancers. Normal adjacent tissue, metastatic tissue and archival blocks are available.

Customized According to Researcher Request

Preservation methods are customized as needed by researchers and include snap freezing in liquid nitrogen, formalin fixation and paraffin embedding. Samples are preserved at 4ºC available and shipped directly to researchers with a preliminary diagnosis. The investigator is informed of a final diagnosis as the information becomes available. NDRI will work directly with you to customize your protocols and retrieval to ensure that you will receive the highest quality tumor available for your studies. Pathology reports and tissue information summaries are available.

Compliance and Anonymity

As a matter of policy and practice, information provided to NDRI is routinely "de-identified".
As a recipient of federal funds through the National Institutes of Health, NDRI adheres to and is compliant with all federal human subjects protection requirements.

Tissue Collection Network

NDRI works with more than 200 major medical centers, hospitals, pathology services, eye and tissue banks and organ procurement organizations nationwide. NDRI has a proven track record in supplying quality normal and diseased tissues from accredited sources.
